Who we are
Chesslume is an independent chess-analysis tool that lets you import games from Chess.com and Lichess, replay them, and analyze your moves with a chess engine. We are not affiliated with Chess.com or Lichess.
Information we collect
We aim to collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- Game data you request. When you enter a Chess.com or Lichess username, or upload a PGN file, we fetch and process those games to display and analyze them. This data is processed to provide the analysis you asked for.
- Local preferences.Settings such as board theme, piece set, and sound on/off are stored in your browser’s local storage on your own device. They are not sent to us.
- Technical and usage data. Like most websites, our servers and third-party providers may automatically receive standard log information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed) to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We do not require account registration, and we do not ask for your Chess.com or Lichess password — we only use the public username you provide to fetch publicly available games.
How we use information
- To import, display, and analyze the chess games you request.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To display advertising that helps keep the Service free.
Cookies and similar technologies
Chesslume and its partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and web beacons) to remember your preferences, keep the Service secure, measure usage, and serve advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works.

We use third-party advertising, including Google AdSense, to display ads on Chesslume. Please note the following:

Third-party services
To provide the Service, your requests may be sent to third parties, including the public Chess.com and Lichess APIs (to fetch games) and our hosting and analysis infrastructure. These providers process data only as needed to deliver the requested functionality. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Data retention
Imported games may be cached on our servers to make repeat analysis fast and to reduce computation. This cache stores chess positions and engine evaluations and is not used to identify you. Preferences you set remain on your device until you clear your browser storage.
Children’s privacy
Chesslume is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

- Opt out of personalized ads using the links above.
- Clear local preferences by clearing your browser storage.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
